At the end of August I announced that I was leaving my photography job of 4+ years at Mississippi State for a new opportunity. I was a little skeptical to announce my next move because I wasn't sure how it would be perceived that I was leaving a head photo job at an SEC institution to start my own photography business.

Yep, the cat's out of the bag. I'm officially in the business of having my own business.

If you had told me a year ago that I'd be doing the freelance route I would have told you that you were nuts. But after months of reflection, discussions with friends and family and a plethora of signs from the good Lord above, I knew it was time to take the leap into something different than the world of full-time athletics.

God has already blessed me with an amazing opportunity to get back to my roots shooting high school football games at Louisville, and while it's taken some adjusting, I'm pretty pleased with how my high school shots have turned out so far. (If you're looking for those photos you can find them here.) I'm also happy to report that I've already gotten offers for a couple of freelance gigs coming up here soon. Blessed really is an understatement at this point.

One of my favorite parts about this journey so far has been seeing my husband, Robby, a lot more. For those who are familiar with us and our schedules know that this is something we're not used to at all. It's weird, but in a good way.

To conclude my first blog post in my new endeavor, I just want to reiterate how excited I am to start taking clients again. Whether you're in the market for an elopement photographer (sorry, I don't do full weddings yet), someone to do your senior portraits or a sports shooter at any level, I hope you'll consider me for the job. If you need more convincing, feel free check out my portfolio.

Looking forward to more photography opportunities soon!
