2019...

Where to even start.

I guess I'll begin with how I challenged myself to be more creative with my photos and "see" more. Be better at finding the moments. Try new angles. Look for ways to make my photos tell more of a story individually. While that's easier said than done in some cases, I feel like I have grown a lot as a photographer in 2019. I didn't just settle for good action photos - I went for it and worked hard at framing and shadows - moving around more than usual in a game - trying to get more of the overall experience and the moments fans don't see as much. I'm really proud of the work I did, the photos that came out of all the long days and nights, how I pushed myself to be more than just an action photographer and what all I've done to develop my skills.

In the galleries below you'll see a lot my favorite work from my last year at Mississippi State. It was fun looking back at all I was able to photograph in 2019 for the maroon and white. Since then I've been doing a lot of freelance work and portraits through my own photography business, which you'll also see showcased in these galleries.

I'm incredibly humbled by the opportunities that have already presented themselves in my short time out on my own, and am tremendously grateful to my husband, my family and my friends for supporting me in this new adventure. I couldn't have taken this leap of faith without all of you. Ultimately the biggest thank you goes out to all of those I've photographed in 2019: thank you for trusting me and my vision as a photographer. I know it's not always easy being in front of the camera, but I hope I made it a little easier for you, and that the moments I captured will be ones you cherish for years to come. I have been honored to play even the smallest part in telling your stories.

Tonight we will count down the minutes to 2020, closing out the chapter that is 2019 and the book of this past decade. I'm eager to see what 2020 and the following years will bring through photography and life in general. Until then, I hope you enjoy my collection of favorite photos from the past year.

Happy New Year, everyone!
